Hertfordshire Health Walks volunteers share their experience

"'I have been volunteering as a Health Walk leader in Welwyn Garden City since August 2017. I volunteer three times a week, because I enjoy walking and showing people parts of the area that are unfamiliar to them, especially Sherrardspark Woods where some fear getting lost, or are simply uneasy about entering on their own.

For the year before becoming a leader I had been one of the walkers. I was often at the front talking to the leader. On the third time of being asked, I agreed to train as a leader myself, and I have not regretted it.

It's very gratifying to hear "I didn't know that was there!" and I am proud to have been involved with a walk that went from an average of twenty walkers per week to double that number within two years."
