On Saturday 2 October we held our 1st Welwyn Hatfield Healthy Hub Festival, giving residents the opportunity to come along for a chat and to find out more about the free health and wellbeing programmes and services on offer.

Held at the Woodhall community centre on Mill Green Road, the successful event saw residents attending from right across the borough, all keen to make the most of free taster sessions from fitness-focused weight management service Shape Up and Cancel out Cancer, as well as a family-friendly Children's Corner and a range of healthy refreshments.

The festival was declared 'very helpful', with satisfied residents stating there was 'lots of good advice from a number of sources' and that they found support to help them take care of their health.

'I really enjoyed the Healthy Hub Festival in WGC.I obtained a lot of useful information and help from various organisations. I had my weight checked and found out what my weight, body fat and calories intake should be. Signed up for the next available course locally.Hoping to resume with the Health Walks I attended before lockdown.' Comments from a local resident who attened the festival.

"It was great to see so many services coming together and was the perfect opportunity for them to speak with the public face-to-face to find out what they really need," commented Cllr Fiona Thomson, Hertfordshire's Deputy Executive Member for Public Health and Community Safety.

"We want to help improve the health and wellbeing of Hertfordshire residents so that everyone has the best opportunity to live the healthiest and happiest life they can and this is a great place to come together and do that."

The Healthy Hub team would like to say a big thank you to the following orgnaisations for giving up their Saturday and for making the event a great success; Beezee Bodies, Hertswise, Terrance Higgins Trust, Herts Health Walks, Mind in Mid Herts, Isabel Hispice, Cancel out Cancer, Royal British Legion and Shape Up.
