Want to know more about Dementia then hop on the Dementia Bus in May

In support of Dementia Awareness Week 2022 (Sun 16th May - Sat 22nd May) Home Instead Welwyn and Hatfield in collaboration with Herts Ability will be hosting a Virtual Dementia Bus event on Wednesday 18th May outside the main entrance of The Howard Centre in Welwyn Garden City, Town Centre.

We will also be running a 3-day information event inside the shopping centre from the 18th May - 20th May.

The Virtual Dementia Bus was invented 25 years ago, in the USA by PK Beville who is president of American non-profit company Second Wind Dreams. The Virtual Dementia Bus is medically and scientifically proven.

By walking in the shoes of a person living with a dementia condition, hopefully, our community may start to understand the issues that they experience every day. You will experience being confused, isolated, lost, intimidated, vulnerable, and much more and therefore understand what you need to change to improve quality of care.

The aim of the mobile unit is to remove a person from their known environment into a controlled, safe place to complete a dementia experience.

Why not pop along?

There are over 200 walks in and around Herts to access easily.

Hertfordshire is a beautiful county that offers some of the most fascinating and picturesque walks in the country, from the rolling Chiltern Hills in the West, to the peaceful rural countryside in the north and the great woodlands and canals throughout.

Our simple to use GPS-enabled digital guide covers over 200 amazing walks of between 1 and 12 miles throughout Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas.

Easily filter the walks by all walks, woodland walks, waterside walks, hill walking and walks with a pub on the route. You can also list the walks by distance from you at that time.

Detailed route maps then track your progress as you walk around and they all work offline, meaning no internet or 4G signal required when doing the walks.

Contour information on the maps show you the gradients of the walk to help you judge difficulty.

After your free trial, payment will be charged to your iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period.
