Watford FC are helping men 'Shape Up' in Welwyn Hatfield
The Shape Up Herts campaign has a 6 year history of helping men aged 18 to 65 to improve their fitness & nutrition habits and lose weight and is still available to Men in Welwyn & Hatfield. In fact over the next 12 months there will be 75 free places available to local residents.
The programme was originally set up in late 2014 by Watford FC Community Sports and Education Trust, with funding from Herts County Council, to combat the growing problem of obesity amongst middle aged men in Hertfordshire. It has proved so popular that it has since been extended, with further funding from Welwyn Hatfield council and the Premier League.
The focus is on using fun, free sessions of nutritional advice, exercise and even team sports to help men with a BMI of 30 or over to get fitter in a sociable atmosphere. It also encourages men to develop a healthier relationship with food and break bad habits.
